Environmental DNA in the Bohmann Group
The Bohmann Group focus on the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) and high-throughput sequencing to assess biodiversity and diet.
Our research focus is centered around the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) and high-throughput sequencing to assess biodiversity and diet. We work on developing, optimising and validating environmental DNA techniques and on eDNA in applied projects. For instance, on tracing the reestablishment of arthropod diversity following mining activities in the Amazon forest and on assessing insect diversity in Tanzania and Greenland. Furthermore, we use the techniques in microbiome studies, such as to explore how the gut microbiome of leeches aids digestion. Lastly, we develop a national DNA reference database in Denmark.
