Living in Copenhagen

Office environment

Copenhagen is truly a green city surrounded by water and parks, with climate-friendly citizens to match and a harbour clean enough to swim in.

Three times, Copenhagen has won the prestigious title as the world’s most liveable city awarded by the international magazine Monocle. Click here to explore the city. Denmark also ranks second in the World Happiness Report.

Health and medical care
When you are a registered resident in Denmark, you are entitled to a number of health care benefits from the Danish health care system. These include free-of-charge treatment provided by your general practitioner, specialists and at all public hospitals.

Childcare and schools
All daycare institutions in Denmark have educated staff taking care of the children. Besides, all day care institutions in Denmark are obliged by law to carry out an educational curriculum. It means that all institutions have activities strengthening the children’s social and language competences among others.

Childcare is financed partly by the parents, partly by the municipality. Prices differ depending on the municipality, the type of childcare and the household income.

Education is a key priority in Denmark. The Danish public schooling and education system is financed by taxes and therefore free of charge. There are also a number of private schools, including international schools with partial parental payment.
