GLOBE researcher awarded prestigious postdoc earmarked for female researchers
Postdoc Christina Lynggaard has received the VILLUM FONDEN’s Villum International Postdoc as one of six highly promising female researchers in the technical and natural sciences.
Villum International Postdoc is VILLUM FONDEN’s career kickstarting programme earmarked for female researchers. The programme has been developed in collaboration with the Danish universities, and many of the grantees focus on making a difference in society in relation to sustainability issues. This year, their projects range from DNA-based methods for studying biodiversity to experiments with vibration response in wind turbines and other structures. GLOBE researcher Christina Lynggaard received the prestigious Villum International Postdoc to carry out research on how vertebrate communities in West Africa respond to changes in the environment. “I will rely on traces of DNA that animals have left in the environment, known as environmental DNA, which I will couple with DNA metabarcoding” says Christina who ultimately aims for her project to aid vertebrate conservation efforts in West Africa. As part of the three-year VILLUM postdoc Christina will carry out an extended stay abroad to ensure an international outlook and network and to learn new analytical skills. Christina received ca. 2.5 million kroner for her project. |
