GeoGenetics Sequencing Core
Many important biological questions are answered using DNA sequencing data. The genomics core facility housed at the Globe Institute, provides services for studies of (meta)genomics, environmental DNA, biodiversity, conservation, etc. from ancient or contemporary material. The facility services national and international academic labs and external partners.
In 2009, the group around GeoGenetics established a high-throughput DNA sequencing infrastructure, via governmental grants. Since then, the GeoGenetics Sequencing Core and its associated research have been service platform for genomic studies, and in addition made the Institute internationally recognized within key scientific disciplines such as ancient DNA and evolution. Equipped with a variety of the latest instruments for high-throughput sequencing, we service a wide range of projects within the areas of population genomics, genetics, conservation, biodiversity, evolution, environmental DNA, viral diversity, and human diseases. Our collaborators/customers include national and international academic labs and biotech companies.
(The GeoGenetics Sequencing Core was previously called The National High-throughput DNA Sequencing Centre).
- First whole genome from an ancient human individual.
- Production of the Lundbeck Foundation 5000 ancient genomes panel.
