As a TALENT PhD fellow, my project PhD explores the biomolecular ArcHives of beeswax (A. mellifera) like biocodicology does for parchment (Beasts2Craft). Can proteins and aDNA be extracted from beeswax to explore the potential biomolecular archive of medieval wax seals for e.g. geographic origin of imported beeswax?

I am also interested in reflecting the past health and populations of A. mellifera to the modern day honey bees. My supervisors are Prof. Matthew Collins and Prof. Annette Bruun Jensen. I have an interdisciplinary background and now as a learning scientist I aim to combine my knowledge on cultural history with the state-of-the-art methods at The Globe Institute for my PhD.
