Current research
Taxonomic studies of pyrenomycetes, especially tropical members of the Xylariaceae (Ascomycota). Currently the following geographical areas are under investigation: Ecuador, Brazilian mata atlantica and central Bahia, Puerto Rico, St. John (U.S. Virgin Islands), Sabah (Malaysia), Brunei, parts of Northern Europe and Far Eastern Russia. Other areas of current interest includes the Lasiosphaeriaceae and Hypocreales, fungal biodiversity and Mycena (Basidiomycota) from Northern Europe. Is an active member of a Scandinavian projects on saproxylic organisms.

Special duties
Internal: Ph.d. committee, international committee, Socrates/Erasmus coordinator, responsible for library and study collections etc.
External: Member of the Danish Mycological Society Conservation committee, co-editor of the society journal 'Svampe' and co-editor of the book series 'Fungi of Northern Europe'.
